Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen today handed over compensation cheques to the family members of victims of Makkah crane accident which took place during Hajj in 2015.

The cheques were offered by the Saudi Monetary Agency on behalf of the Royal Saudi Government to the family of one deceased and two wounded Bangladeshi nationals. The Saudi Government offered Tk. 2.26 crore to the family of the deceased and Tk. 1.13 crore to each wounded of crane accident.

While handing over the cheques, Foreign Minister highlighted the generous contribution of the Saudi Government and remarked that the amount will substantially benefit the families. Dr. Momen cited the existing excellent bilateral relation between Bangladesh and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia owing to which the government of Saudi Arabia has made the contribution.

 The programme was also attended by State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Md. Shahidul Haque.
