Jakarta, 25 November 2022:

His Excellency Air Vice Marshal Mohammad Mostafizur Rahman, GUP, ndc, psc presented his credentials to His Excellency Taneti Maamau, the President of the Republic of Kiribati as concurrently accredited Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Kiribati on 25 November 2022 in virtual Platform.

Following the presentation of the Credentials, the President of the Republic of Kiribati and the Bangladesh Ambassador had a bilateral meeting. The Ambassador of Bangladesh to the Republic of Kiribati conveyed the good wishes from the Hon’ble President of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Abdul Hamid and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina to the President of the Republic of Kiribati. He highlighted the development trajectory of Bangladesh with the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina. He also highlighted the potential areas of cooperation between Bangladesh and Kiribati; i.e. agriculture, fisheries, trade and investment, and maritime affairs for mutual benefits. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Kiribati for raising its voice and extending support for forcibly displaced Rohingya people from the Rakhine State of Myanmar to Bangladesh. He also proposed that Bangladesh and Kiribati may work together on many international issues such as combating climate change, maintaining global peace, security and stability, and Sustainable Development.

His Excellency, Mr. Taneti Maamau, President of the Republic of Kiribati urged Bangladesh to scale up bilateral engagement for mutual cooperation between Bangladesh and Kiribati, especially in the areas of combating climate change, aviation, maintaining international peace and stability and curbing violence and terrorism around the world. He expressed his heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh for appointing an Ambassador to Kiribati. Inviting the Ambassador of Bangladesh to visit Kiribati, He hoped that the collaboration and partnership between both countries will reach a new level in the days ahead.
