Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development meets the Hon’ble Chair of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Finance, Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali. MP

Dhaka, 11 July 2019:

 

A meeting between Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the UN Secretary-General’s Special Advocate for Inclusive Finance for Development and a high-level delegation from Ministry of Finance has been held today at 1430 hrs at Pan Pacific Sonargaon. The Hon’ble Chair of the Standing Committee on Ministry of Finance, Mr. Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali. MP led the delegation from Ministry of Finance. The Senior Secretary of Financial Institutions Division and the Finance Secretary were also present at the meeting as member of the delegation.

 

In the meeting, the Chair of the Standing Committee highlighted current government’s initiatives and successes towards inclusion of people from all segments in the financial activities and development process. He particularly emphasized on the government’s vision 2021 and 2041 and the success in digitalization. He described how the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ concept helping inclusive financial development in Bangladesh.

 

The both side also underlined the excellent bilateral relations between Bangladesh and The Netherlands. The issue of future cooperation between the two countries has also been discussed.

 

Her Majesty Queen Maxima praised the initiatives of Bangladesh government to include all people in the financial development process. She expressed her interest to support the government’s development priorities in future.

 

The Chair of the standing committee thanked her for visiting Bangladesh and expressed hope for continued cooperation both with The Netherlands and the United Nations.
