Bangkok 27 May 2018: At the invitation of Bangladesh Foreign Minister Mr. A. H. Mahmood Ali, Thailand’s Princess Royale Her Royal Highness MahaChakriSirindhorn will arrive in Dhaka tomorrow on a 4-dayroyal visit to Bangladesh from 28 May 2018. The Thai Princess will lead a 11-member high profile Thai Government delegation in connection with philanthropy projects she set up in Bangladesh in 2011 under her father, late King Bhumibols’sRoyal Chai Pattana Foundation.State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. ShahriarAlam MP will receive and welcome the Thai Princess at the HazratShahjalal International Airport on her arrival in Bangladesh tomorrow afternoon.
During her four-day visit to Bangladesh, the Princess is scheduled to call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Foreign Minister A. H. Mahmood Ali, MP and exchange views with Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury and Culture Minister Asaduzzaman Noor MP and other dignitaries. Her Royal Highness Sirindhornis also scheduled to visit various ongoing royal projects in Bangladesh,under the Royal Chaipattana Foundation including public health and sanitation projects for school children,sustainable agriculture projects for farmers in Bangladesh and the Sufficiency Economy Learning Centre at the Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation all under the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy pioneered by her late father King Bhumibol.
During the visit,the Thai Princessis also scheduled to inaugurate a new environmental conservation projectin collaboration with the Environment and Forest Ministry of Bangladesh, titled “Bangladesh-Thailand Vetiver Grass DevelopmentProject to prevent hill erosion in Chottogram” on 30 March at the Tiger Pass in Chottogram City.
Terming this visit as a ‘highest profile visit’ from Thailand during the past years, Bangladesh Ambassador to Thailand,SaidaMunaTasneem commented to the media, that “the visit to Bangladesh by the globally acclaimed philanthropist HRH Sirindhorn, affectionately called the ‘Angel Princess” in Thailand in response to the invitation of Bangladesh’sForeign Minister,is anattestation of the special attachment and dispensation of Thailand’s Royal family towards Bangladesh and the welfare of its common people. It is also a significant milestone in the bilateral relations between the two Bay of Bengal countries”.
Ambassador Muna also mentioned that Princess Sirindhorn,who had earlier praised Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’sextraordinary successes in girl’s education, food self-sufficiency and addressing climate change, is keen to work with the UNEP ‘Champions of the Earth’ winning Prime Minister and her Government on environmental and hills conservation projects in country’s South-Eastern Hill Districts in Chottogram.
During her four-day stay in Bangladesh, theThai Princess is also scheduled to visit the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka, the Ethnological Origins Museum in Chottogram and meet with autistic and special children at the Proyash Institute of Special Educationin Dhaka Cantonment,meet with children and farmers visit at the Azampur Government Primary School, Uttara, Mariali Government Primary School, Gazipurand Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation in Dhaka and attend a dinner to be hosted by Foreign Minister A. H. Mahmood Ali in her honour.
