Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, S. M. Mahbubul Alam hadtwelve (12) separate business meetings and interactions during 05-15 February 2023 with more than twenty (20) eminent industrialists, entrepreneurs, investors, and businessmen who are Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer,Managing Partnerand Director of their respective business enterprises or industries in Pakistan.
The Deputy High Commissioner S, M. Mahbubul Alam had separate meetings and interactions among others withMr. Sarfraz Cheema, Chief Operating Officer, Garment Division, Soorty Enterprises Ltd, Mr. Amin Nasrullah, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development, Soorty Enterprises, Mr. Rehhan Rahman, Chief Executive Officer, Premier 1888 Ltd, Mr. Azhar Hussain, Chief Operating Officer, Feroze 1888 Mills Ltd, Mr. Muhammad Yahya, Director, Plant Engineering, Feroze 1888 Mills Ltd, Mr. Mohammed Ashraf, Director, Mount Fuji Textiles Ltd, Mr. Zeeshan Idrees Maniya, General Manager, Sales & Marketing, Mount Fuji Textiles Ltd, Mr. Faisal Rabbani, Chief Risk Officer (CRO), Bank Alfalah, Mr. Tariq Malik, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Sardar Group, and Mr. Asif Zuberi, Chief Executive Officer, Recorder Television Network Ltd.
Deputy High Commissioner discussed issues of promotion of trade and business and investment for mutual interests of the two countries. He briefed the leading industrialists, investors, entrepreneurs and businesspersons in Karachi about various development initiatives and sectoral achievements in Bangladesh. He further mentioned that Bangladesh has fulfilled all criteria for graduation to developing country and has become a ‘Role Model’ of socio-economic development in the world. Hehighlightedon different mega projects in Bangladesh such as Padma Bridge, Metro Rail, Karnaphuli River Tunnel, Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant, Deep-Sea Port, Bangabandhu Satellite-1, and other vital projects. He briefed that Bangladesh is currently among the five fastest growing economies in the world ranking 35thin terms of GDP with per capita income of USD2824. He mentioned that Bangladesh has achieved 100% electricity coverage and Bangladesh has been working hard to establish 100 Specialized Economic Zones (SEZs) across the country. He shared the vision of the present government to turn Bangladesh into a developed country and Smart Bangladesh by 2041.
Elaborating on the potential of trade and commerce and investment in Bangladesh including the exclusive facilities and incentives Bangladesh offers for foreign investment, Deputy High Commissioner invited the potential investors, industrialist, entrepreneurs and businesspersons from Pakistan to invest in Bangladesh and to import products from Bangladesh.
During the meeting and interactions, Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Owner, Managing Partner and Director of different companies in Pakistan highly appreciated the impressive socio-economic developments in Bangladesh. They also expressed their willingness to invest in Bangladesh and do more business with Bangladesh and those who have been doing business with Bangladesh expressed their deep satisfaction. They requested the Deputy High Commissioner to ease the processing of business visas for businesspersons from Pakistan.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam assured theleading businesspersons in Pakistan to extend all possible cooperation for greater trade and commerce and economic relations between the two counties.Deputy High Commissioner also presented them souvenirs on Bangladesh.
