Bangladesh High Commission hosted independence and National Day reception

High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Maldives Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad hosted a reception in honour of local Maldivian dignitaries and members of diplomatic corps on 07 May 2023 at a local hotel JEN in Male', Maldives on the occasion of glorious Independence and National Day of Bangladesh. Vice President of the Republic of Maldives, His Excellency Mr. Faisal Naseem graced the occasion as the Guest of Honour. Invited guests including High dignitaries of host country, diplomats, businessmen, medial personal, Bangladeshi doctors, members of Bangladesh community attended the reception.. 


Bangladesh High Commissioner Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad, in his remarks, paid profound homage to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his lifelong struggle, charismatic leadership and historic contribution. He remembered the supreme sacrifices by national leaders, the martyrs and the valiant freedom fighters of the liberation war of Bangladesh. He expressed gratitude to the friendly countries and people who lent support to Bangladesh during the war of independence. Mentioning Bangladesh the "Development Miracle" he highlighted the socioeconomic. progress of Bangladesh under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Government's vision to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2030 and transform Bangladesh into a smart developed country by 2041. 


High Commissioner Rear Admiral S M Abul Kalam Azad also underscored the exemplary success of Maldives in the sectors of development, diplomacy, sports, international and regional peace and stability under the able leadership of the President of Maldives. He thanked the Government of Maldives for continued support to the Bangladeshi expatriates in Maldives. 


The Chief Guest Mr. Faisal Naseem, Hon'ble Vice President of Maldives mentioned Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on a glorious leader who sacrificed his whole life for Bengali people. He also mentioned about the 7th March speech that was included in the memory of the World Register by UNESCO. He congratulates Bangladeshi people living in Maldives on the Independence and National Day. He spoke about the good relations, friendship and interests of the two countries. He recalled the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshis to the development of Maldives, especially the cooperation of the Bangladesh government during the Corona period and the contribution of expatriate Bangladeshi doctors. 


Bangladesh's glorious history, great independence, strong determination and development, rich heritage, spectacular natural beauty, art and culture were presented in the event. 


The guest was entertained with a wide range of variety of foods.
