The Embassy of Bangladesh in Turkey has launched a 3 (three) day-long Symposium on“First Economic Diplomacy” at the ‘Bijoy ’71 Auditorium’ of the Chancery complex.Earlier, Ambassador Mosud Mannan, ndc inaugurated a Photography Exhibition on the development activities highlighting the mega projects in Bangladesh at the “Bijoy ’71 Foyer”. During the inauguration D-8 Secretary General Ambassador IsiakaAbdulqadir Imamand members of Bangladesh Community were present.
At the beginning of the Symposium, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission Ms. Shahnaz Gazi welcomed the guestsçAmbassador Mosud Mannan, ndc gave his welcome speech and expressed his gratitude to the dignitaries for their participation. D-8 Secretary General Ambassador IsiakaAbdulqadir Imam and President of OSTIM Mr. Orhan Aydin delivered their addresses welcoming this new initiative of Bangladesh Embassy followed by the Key Note Speaker Mr. GüvenSak, Managing Director of TEPAV.
After that Assistant Professor of Ankara University Dr. Moynul Ahsan discussed the importance on Modern Land Management for Development of Bangladesh, Researcher of Selçuk University Mr. Zobayer Ahmed discussed on the role of Banking Sector in the Development of the National Economy of Bangladesh, Minister and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Embassy Ms. Shahnaz Gazi spoke on Bangladesh Facing Climate Change, President of Ankara Pharmacist’s Association Mr. TanerErcanli spoke on Pharmaceutical Industry in Bangladesh, Professor of Sakarya University Dr. Muhammad Salah Uddin delivered his speech on Sustainable Development of Bangladesh and ILO, Turkey Representative Ms. Nuran Torun Atiş delivered her speech on Human Skill Development.
Ambassador Mosud Mannan, ndcmentioned in his remarks that economic diplomacy is functional at four levels: Bilateral, regional, multilateral and cultural. Bilateral economic diplomacy plays a major role in economic relations. It includes bilateral trade and treaty, agreements on investment, employment or avoidance of double taxation, and a range of formal and informal economic issues between two countries. Bilateral Free Trade agreements have been the order of the day, being implemented by many countries around the world. The main task of economic diplomacy is to achieve optimum benefits, from the viewpoint of serving national interests, focusing on the country's economic potential and geo-economic position. To ensure maximum outcome cultural diplomacy can be applied to attract foreign countries and their people towards the products of Bangladesh.
At the end of the 1st day Session, he thanked all the discussants and participants for their valued contribution to the Symposium.
