Meeting between Bangladesh Ambassador and Chairman of Uztextileprom

Bangladesh Ambassador Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam accompanied by a Commonwealth of Independent States-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CIS-BCCI) business delegation held a meeting with the Chairman of Uztextileprom (Uzbekistan Textile Industry Association) Mr. Ilkhom Utkurovich Khaidarov on 13 November 2023 at the latter's office. The Bangladesh delegation is composed of Adviser of CIS-BCCI Mr. Mahbub Islam Runu (Head of Delegation), Chairman & Managing Director of Alvi Group Mr. Khan Md. Iqbal, Chairman of Stock and Security Linkway Ltd. Mr. Mohammed N S Kabir, Proprietor of Apone World Trade Vision Mr. Alamgir Hossain Patwary, CEO of A & A Agro and Fisheries Mr. Mohammad Wazed Ali and Barrister Wolora Afrin Rasna. 


Articulating the historical, cultural and spiritual linkages between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, Ambassador Dr. Islam stressed the need for further deepening and expanding the bonds of friendship between the two countries. He briefed the Uztextileprom Chairman about the socio-economic progress that Bangladesh has scripted in its development landscape under the leadership of Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, with particular reference to the success in infrastructure, transport and connectivity sectors. Highlighting the important contributions made by the textile and RMG to the economic growth and achievements of Bangladesh, he underlined the necessity of increasing RMG exports from Bangladesh to Uzbekistan and urged the business communities of both countries to explore the possibility of joint investments in this regard. The Bangladesh business delegation joined the discussion on a wide range of issues including tax and non-tax facilities, banking system, labor cost, transport, logistics etc. 


The Chairman of Uztextileprom welcomed the Bangladesh delegation for undertaking such useful visit and assured of possible support in further enhancing the level of interactions and understanding between the business communities of two countries. Profoundly appreciating the phenomenal success Bangladesh has made in textile and RMG sectors, he stated that Bangladesh's experience and expertise in this particular sector would be very helpful for Uzbekistan. He also called upon the Bangladesh business leaders to realise the untapped potentials that Uzbekistan is holding in its relations with Bangladesh. The meeting ended with expressing firm determination and commitment to bringing new momentum into Bangladesh-Uzbekistan business and investment dynamics.
