Chancellor of Binoria University International in Karachi Mr. Noman Naeem called on the Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner at the Chancery on 03 January 2023. Director, Foreign Affairs of the University, Mr. Zain Hasan accompanied the Chancellor.
During the discussion, the Deputy High Commissioner S. M. Mahbubul Alam highlighted that Bangladesh is a peace-loving secular democratic country. Bangladesh has rich cultural traditions and heritage of thousand years. Bangladesh is a land of peaceful coexistence with all believes, creeds and castes and equal rights are ensured by the provisions of the National Constitution of Bangladesh. He mentioned that Bangladesh is a unique country in the entire world, which has public holidays on the religious festivals of all the major religions such as the Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Christianity. Deputy High Commissioner also mentioned that Bangladesh has become a ‘Role Model’ of socio-economic development in the world. The percent per capita income is USD2,824. He added that the ‘Digital Bangladesh’ initiative has stimulated transformative impacts on socio-economic development, education, and women’s empowerment and women in Bangladesh have been contributing to the development journey of Bangladesh. He also shared the vision that the present government of Bangladesh has been striving hard to turn Bangladesh into a knowledge-based developed country and smart Bangladesh by 2041.
Deputy High Commissioner S. M. Mahbubul Alam further briefed that currently the literacy rate of Bangladesh is around 78 percent, which was only 18 percent in 1971. He added that in Bangladesh currently there are around 170 Universities including 53 Public Universities, and 112 Medical Colleges, whereas the numbers were only five and six respectively in 1971. Bangladesh has been a remarkable achiever in all socio-economic indicators and he added that the current primary enrollment in Bangladesh is around 99%.
During the discussion, the Chancellor of Binoria University International highly appreciated the socio-economic developments in Bangladesh including the impressive development in women empowerment, literacy rate, higher education, digitization, and science and technology. He mentioned that in Pakistan their university has the highest number of foreign students from countries like the USA, the UK, Canada, France, Germany, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. Chancellor further added that there are over 8,000 students in their university including students from around 50 countries including Bangladesh. He further added that his university has collaboration with few overseas universities such as universities in Malaysia and Indonesia. The Chancellor also requested for possible collaboration in education and research with relevant university in Bangladesh.
