Bangladesh High Commission in Mauritius commemorated the great Victory Day, 2022, paying deep homage to the martyrs with due fervour and festivity. At the outset of the day, the National Flag was hoisted by H.E. the High Commissioner, Ms. Rezina Ahmed, which was followed by special prayer, reading out of the messages, discussion, and a cultural program was organized at the Mission premises. The messages from the Hon'ble President, Prime Minister, Foreign Minister and State Minister for Foreign Affairs were read out.
In the beginning, H.E. the High Commissioner paid her deepest tribute to the greatest Bengali of all time, the architect of the Nation, Father of the nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman during her speech. She paid homage to the National four leaders, three million gallantry freedom fighters, who lost their lives and two hundred thousand women, who lost their honour. At the outset of her speech, she said that the word “Independence” is the sweetest word, which was instilled in Bengali by Bangabandhu. His significant speech of 7 March motivated the Bengali nation to fight for their freedom.
She also cited that under the prudent leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister in the last 14 years, the nation has been working tirelessly for the betterment of the people and thus Bangladesh has become a developing country. She also mentioned that this joy of the victory will become a real bliss, only if we can build our beloved motherland as a happy, prosperous and modern state by upholding the fundamental spirit of the war of liberation, materializing the dream of Bangabandhu’s ‘Shonar Bangla’.
Ms. Ahmed said that Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina recently unveiled her government’s vision to build a “Smart Bangladesh” by 2041. The government is working to transform the country into "Smart Bangladesh" from a digital one. She further mentioned that present government is working to successfully implement the four bases of building "Smart Bangladesh" that included making smart citizens, smart economy, smart government and smart society.
Expatriate Bangladeshis spontaneously participated in the program and expressed their joy. At the cultural program, dance together with patriotic songs, by Bangladeshi children in Mauritius enchanted the audience. The family members of the High Commission performed recitation from poetry. Their presentation was appreciated by the audience.
Bangladeshi food was served to the guests.
