Seoul, 17 October 2022:
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul actively participated in the ‘Itaewon Global Village Festival 2022’ held in Itaewon, Seoul, Republic of Korea on 15-16 October 2022. This year a total of 26 Embassies participated in this international festival. The Embassy of Bangladesh participated in the ‘World Craft Fair’ ‘Global Parade’ and ‘World Cultural Performance’ of this international festival.
The festival was inaugurated on 15 October 2022. The inauguration ceremony was attended by the Minister of Unification Mr. Kwon Youngse, the Mayor of the Yongsan Metropolitan Government Ms. PARK Hee-young, other dignitaries and officials of the Yongsan Metropolitan Government and Ambassadors and diplomatic representatives of the participating countries. Ambassador Delwar Hossain, Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea was present during the opening ceremony.
The Bangladeshi expatriate community members and the Embassy officials took part in the Global Parade dressed up in traditional and colourful Bangladeshi attire with drums, festoons and the national flag which attracted the attention of Koreans and the foreign nationals present there. At the ‘World Craft Fair’, Bangladeshi traditional handicrafts were displayed and documentaries on the tourist attractions of Bangladesh were screened in the Bangladesh stall. A large number of visitors visited the Bangladesh stall and showed their keen interest in various products. The Embassy also participated in the ‘World Cultural Performance’ of the festival. The song and dance performances of the Bangladeshi performers mesmerized the audience.
The active and colorful participation of Bangladesh at the ‘Itaewon Global Village Festival 2022’ provided an opportunity to showcase and promote Bangladeshi culture and heritage to Korean nationals and to the international community. Participation of Bangladesh in such events will indeed further strengthen our bilateral cultural exchanges and people-to-people contact with the Republic of Korea in the coming days.
