Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi arranged visits of Foreign Diplomats (Heads of Missions based in Karachi) at the Bangabandhu Corner at the Chancery. Consuls General of different countries visited the Bangabandhu Corner. S. M. Mahbubul Alam, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi warmly welcomed the Consuls General and visited the Bangabandhu Corner with the Heads of Missions and briefed the photographs on display to them.
Over 90 still photographs are there in the Bangabandhu Corner and the historic photographs of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman are on display. The Heads of Missions were impressed to see the historical and important photographs depicting Bangladesh and her rich and glorious history and the invaluable historical photographs of the Father of the Nation and his political life covering 1946 to 1975.
Deputy High Commissioner mentioned that Bangladesh is an independent country since 1971. Bangladesh achieved her independence under the charismatic leadership of the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman with the supreme sacrifices of three million martyrs. He further added that Bangladesh is now among the five fastest growing economies in the world, ranking 35th in terms of GDP. Bangladesh will a trillion dollar Economy and the 9th largest consumer market in the world by 2041. Bangladesh has already full-filled all the criteria for the graduation to developing country from the LDC Status. Government of Bangladesh has been striving to implement “Vision-2041” to turn Bangladesh into an upper middle-income country by 2031 and Developed and Smart Bangladesh by 2041 and building a prosperous and climate-resilient delta by 2100.
Deputy High Commissioner attributed the development journey of Bangladesh to the hard working, committed, patriotic Bangladeshis vis-à-vis the prudent and dynamic leaderships and policies of the present Government of Bangladesh. He paid rich tributes to the memory of the Father of the Nation whose lifetime sacrifice and dream was for an illiteracy-free, hunger & poverty-free, exploitation & oppression-free, prosperous, successful and dignified Independent and Sovereign Bangladesh -- a “Golden Bangla”.
Deputy High Commissioner mentioned that Bangladesh has been pursuing the foreign policy of “Friendship to all and malice towards none” since her Independence in 1971 as was postulated by the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which continues to provide the philosophical underpinning of Bangladesh’s pro-peace foreign policy. Father of the Nation propounded the peace and development-centric foreign policy, which remains the guiding principle of Bangladesh’s diplomatic engagements today. In 1973 Father of the National was awarded the prestigious Julio-Curie Peace Prize.
All the Consuls General visited the Bangabandhu Corner were highly appreciative of the rich history and successful journey of Bangladesh. They also came to know the rich history of Bangladesh and the life of the Father of the Bangladesh Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam extended his profound thanks and gratitude to all the foreign diplomats who visited the Bangabandhu Conner. Souvenirs on Bangladesh were also presented to the diplomats.
