Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu hosted a reception this afternoon in honour of the participants of the 4^th Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conclave. As a part of celebration of “Mujib borsho”, the Birth Centenary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, with the support of Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu, the 4^th Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conclave was organized. Around 20 participants from various universities of Bangladesh and 30 students from all the seven provinces of Nepal attended the conclave held from 27-28 February 2021 in Kathmandu, Nepal.  

The participants were welcomed at the Embassy premises by the Ambassador of Bangladesh Mr. Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury and officials of the Embassy. Participants were briefed about various activities of and services rendered by Bangladesh Embassy. Ambassador briefed them about various aspects of Bangladesh-Nepal bilateral relations. The reception was also attended by the Vice Chairman of Marsyangdi Rural Municipality of Lamjung District of Nepal and a Member of the National Youth Council of Nepal. 

The inaugural ceremony of the Fourth Nepal-Bangladesh Youth Conclave was held in the morning of 27 February 2021 at Nepal Tourism Board with Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation of Government of Nepal, as the Chief Guest. Mr. Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, Ambassador of Bangladesh to Nepal attended the event as a Special Guest. The Ceremony was also attended by the academia, students, members of civil society, journalists of Nepal and Bangladeshi expatriates.

In her statement, the Minister Dr. Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe underscored the importance of exchange of experiences through such youth conferences which would help in the economic development of a country and strengthen the cultural ties and mutual relationship of Nepal and Bangladesh. Ambassador Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, in his statement highlighted that both Bangladesh and Nepal were blessed with the large number of young populations. He emphasized the importance of ensuring health, education, skill-development, training and employment for the youth population to enable them to realize their full potential and actively participate in the sustainable development of the two countries. Ambassador also stressed on the importance of people-to-people contact and such youth exchange in strengthening the socio-cultural connectivity and relations of two friendly countries Bangladesh and Nepal.

At the end of the inaugural ceremony, a cultural programme was organized with the folk songs from both the countries. With the theme “Building Back Better”, the two-day long conclave discussed various aspects of UN Sustainable Development Goals related to youth, issues related to climate change, Environment protection and sustainability, among others.
