Seoul, 07 March 2022:

Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul observed the ‘Historic 7^th March’ in a befitting manner commemorating the landmark speech of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman delivered on 7^th March, 1971. The event was participated by the Embassy officials and the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Korea.

The day’s programme commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by Ambassador M. Delwar Hossain with the national anthem at the embassy premises. This was followed by paying homage to the Father of the Nation by placing floral wreaths in front of his bust inside the Chancery. Then, the Embassy officials read out the messages of the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister issued on this occasion. During the programme, a documentary on Bangabandhu’s historic 07^th March speech was screened. It was followed by a discussion session participated by the Embassy officials and expatriate Bangladeshis. The discussants discussed the significance of this historic speech of the Father of the Nation in the nation's history. 

 In his speech, Ambassador Delwar Hossain paid profound tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman as well as to all the valiant freedom fighters and violated women, whose supreme sacrifices ushered in the independence through a nine-month-long historic war of independence led by the Father of the Nation. He, then, highlighted the significance of the 7^th March historic speech which inspired the entire freedom-seeking Bengali nation to join the struggle for independence.  He added that inclusion of Bangabandhu’s historic speech in UNESCO Memory of the World International Register is a matter of great pride for Bengali nation and Bangla language.  Highlighting the development trajectory and current achievement of Bangladesh under the able leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he called upon the expatriate Bangladeshis to provide combined efforts to realize the long-cherished dream of ‘Sonar Bangla’ (Golden Bengal) as envisioned by the Father of the Nation.
