Dhaka, 02September 2020:

The Government has decided to appoint Mr. Mizanur Rahman, currently serving as the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Canada, as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to Oman.

Mr. Rahman is a career foreign service officer belonging to 1985 batch of Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) Foreign Affairs cadre. In his distinguished diplomatic career, he served in Bangladesh Missions in Colombo, Moscow and Manchester. Prior to his present assignment, he served as Ambassador of Bangladesh to The Netherlands and later to Egypt. At the Headquarters, he worked in various capacities including as Director General (Multilateral Economic Affairs) and Director General (Administration). He also served in the Ministry as Additional Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular) and later as Secretary (Bi-lateral and Consular).

Mr. Mizanur Rahman obtained his MSc in Physics from Dhaka University.

He is married and blessed with two children.
