Newly joined Japanese Ambassador made a courtesy call on the Foreign Minister

 

The newly appointed Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Naoki ITO made a courtesy call on  Foreign Minister Dr. A.K Abdul Momen, M.P. today at the latter's office. This is the first courtesy call of the Ambassador after presenting Credentials to the President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. During the meeting, they seized the opportunity to share major bilateral issues.

Foreign Minister Momen thanked Japan government through the newly appointed Ambassador for concluding MoC (Memorandum of Cooperation) on recruiting ‘Specified Skilled Workers’ by Japan from Bangladesh. Foreign Minister also mentioned that Bangladesh is driving for the digital economy by high-tech manufacturing Hi- Tech- Parks in different places in Bangladesh which are now ready for investment with all necessary off-site infrastructures. In this regard, he sought Japanese investment in Bangladesh’s IT sectors.

Foreign Minister requested support of Japan for early repatriation of the forcefully displaced Myanmar nationals to Bangladesh. Japanese Ambassador reiterated commitment of Japanese humanitarian assistance of  Rohingyas in Bangladesh and continued support for safe and voluntary repatriation of Rohingyas to Myanmar and their resettlement.
