Seoul, 18 October 2022:

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Seoul observed ‘Sheikh Russel Day’ in a befitting manner on 18 October 2022 marking the birth anniversary of Sheikh Russel, the youngest son of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The event was participated by the the officials of the Embassy and expatriate Bangladeshis along with their children.

The day’s programme commenced with offering of floral wreathe at the portrait of Sheikh Russel by Ambassador Delwar Hossain as a tribute to his memory. A special prayer was offered for the salvation and peace of the departed soul of Shaheed Sheikh Russel including the Father of the Nation and his martyred family members who were brutally assassinated on 15 August 1975, and for peace and progress of the nation. The officers of the Embassy then read out the messages of the Hon’ble President and the Hon’ble Prime Minister. A documentary on the life of Sheikh Russel was also screened which was followed by discussion session. 

The Embassy also arranged poetry recitations and art programme for the children. The expatriate Bangladeshi children spontaneously participated in the said programme. Ambassador Delwar Hossain, then, gave away prizes to the children and cut a cake with them to celebrate this occasion.
