Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi had a meeting with Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Khas of Interior Sindh

 

Karachi, 16 June 2023:

 

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, S. M. Mahbubul Alam visited Mirpur Khas of Hyderabad in Sindh on 10 June 2023. Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Khas Mr. Zain-ul-Abedin Memon receives Bangladesh Deputy High Commission at his Office. Other officials of the Deputy Commission were also present.  

 

Deputy High Commissioner S. Mahbubul Alam expressed his deep appreciation and gratitude for the warm welcome and the cordial hospitality extended to him during the visit. During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Khas introduced his colleagues and briefed issues of his jurisdiction and possible cooperation with the Bangladesh Mission in Karachi.

 

Deputy High Commissioner took the opportunity to focus on the success stories of Bangladesh. Mentioning that Bangladesh is a “Role Model” of socio-economic development in the world, he added that Bangladesh is now among the five fastest growing economies in the world, ranking 35th in terms of GDP. He further added that the per capita income of Bangladesh is USD2824 and the income and purchasing power of the people of Bangladesh including those living the rural areas have increased. Bangladesh has been working to make all the civic amenities available in the villages. Bangladesh has already achieved 100% electricity coverage across the country, 100% primary enrollment and 100% child vaccination. He further added that Bangladesh will a trillion dollar Economy and the 9th largest consumer market in the world by 2041. Government of Bangladesh has been striving to implement “Vision-2041” to turn Bangladesh into an upper middle-income country by 2031 and Developed and Smart Bangladesh by 2041 and building a prosperous and climate-resilient delta by 2100.

 

 Deputy High Commissioner further mentioned that the potential of trade and commerce and investment in Bangladesh is huge. He mentioned that there are impressive policies with exclusive facilities and incentives for foreign investment and business with Bangladesh. He mentioned that Bangladesh has been working to establish 100 Specialized Economic Zones (SEZs) with foreign investment-friendly policies across the country. Through the Deputy Commissioner, the Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh invited the businesspersons and investors from Pakistan to invest in Bangladesh and to import more products from Bangladesh. 

 

Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Khas Mr. Zain-ul-Abedin Memon was highly impressed by the success stories of Bangladesh. Profoundly appreciating the socio-economic progress in Bangladesh, he made highly appreciative comments on remarkable progress in the child education & literacy rate, Small & Medium Enterprises (SMEs), women empowerment, rural development, reducing extreme poverty, reducing child and maternal mortality, and enhancement of life expectancy in Bangladesh. He also commented that the businessmen and other trading and merchandizing associations and agro-based industries in Mirpur Khas have potential for wider trade and commerce with Bangladesh.

 

 Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam assured the Deputy Commissioner Mirpur Khas for all possible cooperation from the Mission.
