Uzbekistan, 22 November 2023:

Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan H.E. Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam represented Bangladesh at the International Women’s Forum titled “Experience of Uzbekistan and member states of the Islamic Cooperation Organization in supporting women” held in Samarkand on 22 November 2023. In his remarks at the “Empowering women economically, ensuring their employment and supporting their entrepreneurship” session, Dr. Islam underlined the policies and programmes undertaken by the government in ensuring the meaningful participation of women in the overall development of Bangladesh. Highlighting the impressive socio-economic progress Bangladesh has achieved under the visionary leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he briefed the audience of the phenomenal contributions made and role played by the women in the economic success and growth of Bangladesh. He expressed that Bangladesh is currently being recognized by the international community as a role model in terms of empowering women, especially in political, social and economic fields, while making a comparison on gender parity among the countries in the region. He also articulated the commitment made and emphasis laid by the government in further promoting women empowerment and women rights in all spheres of the society in realizing the “Vision 2041” to transform Bangladesh into a poverty free, hunger free, peaceful and prosperous country.

The Conference organised by the Committee of Family and Women under the Ministry of Employment and Poverty Reduction of the Republic of Uzbekistan was earlier inaugurated by Chairwoman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Ms. Tanzila Narbaeva along with the Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) for Humanitarian, Cultural and Social Affairs H.E.Dr. Tarig Ali Bakhit.
