Birth Anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman and National Children’s Day observed in Guwahati

 

Guwahati, 17 March 2023:

 

The 103rd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh MujiburRahman and National Children’s Day was observed with due fervor and festivity in Guwahati by the Assistant High Commission of Bangladesh.

 

The Assistant High Commission took a day-long programme on this occasion. The day’s programmes commenced with the hoisting of national flag at the office premises by the Assistant High Commissioner Ruhul Amin in presence of the officials of the Mission followed by floral tribute at the sculpture of the Father of the Nation. The morning segment also had special prayer, reading out the messages and documentary screening.

 

Later, celebration with the children of a local orphanageadded a different dimension in the event. The children thoroughly enjoyed the cutting of birthday cake. In addition, the Assistant High Commission arranged meals for them.

 

On the other hand, a week-long photo exhibition on Bangabandhu was inaugurated at Gauhati Artists’ Guild in the evening. The exhibition has been organized in collaboration with the Guwahati Artists Guild, the premiervisual art institution of North East India,and Byatikram MASDO, a majorsocio-cultural organization based in Guwahati.Among the presence were renowned photographers and visual artists from Assam.

 

The inaugural event commenced with the screening of documentary on Bangabandhu. In his speech, the Assistant High Commissioner highlighted on different aspects of charismatic leadership of Bangabandhu. To spread the great ideals of Bangabandhu among the people of Assam is the aim of the exhibition, he added.

 

President of Gauhati Artists’ Guild AminulHaque, General Secretary Kishore Kumar Das and President, Byatikram MASDO and General Secretary, Friends of Bangladesh, Assam Chapter Dr. SaumenBharatiyaalso spoke on the occasion. They paid their rich tributes to Bangabandhu in their speeches. They hoped that initiatives like this will contribute in strengthening the bilateral ties between Bangladesh and India.

 

After the inaugural ceremony, the guests had a tour to the exhibition. The exhibition is open for all till March 23.
