Sydney, 17 March 2023:

The Consulate General of Bangladesh in Sydney proudly hosted a grand celebration of the 103rd birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and National Children's Day 2023. The event took place amid an atmosphere of great enthusiasm, excitement, and joy.

The day's program began with the formal hoisting of the national flag at the Bangladesh House in the presence of Mission officials and staff. A special prayer was offered at this time, seeking the eternal peace for the departed souls of the Father of the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and the martyred members of his family. The prayer also wished for peace and continuous prosperity of Bangladesh. Following this, messages sent by the President, the Prime Minister, the Foreign Minister, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs on the occasion were read out.

In the evening, the second part of the program commenced with the recitation of holy scriptures, followed by the Consul General's speech on Bangabandhu's life and achievements, and a cultural event featuring the participation of children. In his welcome address, the Consul General highlighted the extraordinary accomplishments of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, expressing immense gratitude for his unparalleled leadership and unfathomable contributions to Bangladesh's independence. He also underscored the country's progress under the leadership of Bangabandhu's daughter, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and called on all expatriates to unite, be inspired by Bangabandhu's ideals, and dedicate themselves to nation-building.

Following the cultural program, presents were distributed among the participating children, and a cake was cut in celebration of Bangabandhu's birth anniversary with the presence of the children in attendance.
