Bahrain, 19 May 2022:
The Embassy of Bangladesh in Manama, hosted a luncheon meeting at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Diplomatic Area, Manama on 18 May 2022 to discuss the ways of promoting trade and investment between Bangladesh and Bahrain. Several prominent businessmen and women of Bahrain, notably from the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BCCI), Bahrain Businessmen's Association (BBMA), and the Bahrain Businesswomen's Society (BBS) were present in the event.
During the event, Ambassador Dr. Md. Nazrul Islam gave a brief presentation to apprise the audience about the numerous trade and investment opportunities in the booming private sector of Bangladesh, government-provided incentives and various other services to facilitate trading and investing in Bangladesh for foreign companies. He stated that Bangladesh’s placement on the map makes it an ideal hub between its neighbouring countries in South Asia as well as in South-East Asia.
The Ambassador also referred to various indicators of the economic and social progress of Bangladesh, and called upon the Bahraini business community to increase the import and export of goods and services of Bangladesh. His presentation primarily focused on a total of thirteen potential commercial sectors of the industry, including readymade garments, pharmaceuticals, light engineering, jute and textiles, and IT solutions.
The presentation concluded with a Q&A session with the audience where the Ambassador answered several questions and received an exceedingly positive feedback from the audience. The general consensus was that holding events like this is surely beneficial for all parties involved as it is a great way to raise awareness about potential business opportunities. In response, Ambassador Dr. Islam expressed that he indeed has plans for holding similar events in the near future to not only promote trade and investment between Bangladesh and Bahrain, but to also explore how the ties between the two countries can be strengthened further. He then conveyed his gratitude to all those who were present in the event prior to inviting them for having lunch with him.
