President of Mauritius Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun visits Dhaka to join 06th IOC and bilateral programmes

Dhaka, 11 May 2023:

Honorable President of Mauritius, Mr. Prithvirajsing ROOPUN G.C.S.K, accompanied by his spouse and high officials of the Mauritius government, arrived in Dhaka this morning. He was received at the airport by the Minister of Liberation War Affairs, Mr. A K M Mozammel Huq, MP.

Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun will join the '6th Indian Ocean Conference 2023' in Dhaka as well as bilateral programmes. He will also meet with Honourable President Mr. Mohammed Shahabuddin at Bangabhaban.

Foreign Minister, Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen, MP and Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, Mr. Imran Ahmad, MP will pay courtesy calls on the visiting President of Mauritius.

Honourable President of Mauritius Mr. Prithvirajsing Roopun will visit the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum to pay tribute to the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his martyred family members. He is also due to visit the Liberation War Museum in Dhaka. During his tour, he will see textile industries.

The visit of the President of Mauritius marks the first-ever president-level visit from Mauritius to Bangladesh. Bangladesh and Mauritius enjoy excellent bilateral relations. The relations have been reinforced by the presence of around 20,000 Bangladeshi workers in Mauritius employed there.
