Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Bangladesh Milan Hovorka, resident in New Delhi, called on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md. Shahriar Alam, M.P at the latter’s office this afternoon.
State Minister for Foreign Affairs recalled with appreciation the recognition of Bangladesh by the then Czechoslovakia soon after the independence. He also expressed satisfaction over the existing bilateral ties between the two friendly countries and noted that there were ample scopes for more bilateral interactions to utilize the potentials of the two countries. He stressed on the intensive interaction both at governmental and private sector levels to explore full potential in economic, commercial and technical arena. Mentioning Bangladesh’s investment-friendly environment, he invited the Czech Republic to invest more in the country.
The Czech Ambassador thanked the Minister for the warm reception and expressed his happiness over the bilateral relations between the two countries and agreed to the need for establishment of closer commercial and trade ties between the two friendly countries. He lauded the impressive progress of Bangladesh in economic and other sectors, particularly the elevation of Bangladesh to the developing country status under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He also expressed the readiness of the Czech Republic to invest in different sectors in Bangladesh. Both the dignitaries discussed the progress of the ongoing instruments and expressed their determination to follow them up in order to conclude and operationalise them at the soonest.
Apart from the bilateral issues, both the interlocutors discussed international issues of common interest and emphasized the support of each other in the multilateral fora.
