On 12 August 2022, Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi, S. M. Mahbubul Alam had meetings with the prominent businessmen in Karachi. Three prominent businessmen in Karachi called on the Deputy High Commissioner on 12 August 2022 at the Chancery. Mr. Humza Tabani, Chief Executive Officer of Tabani Group of Industries-a leading group of Industries in Pakistan, Mr. M Alam Mazhari, Chief Operating Officer of Soorty-one of the largest producers of Garments and Denim Fabrics of Pakistan and Mr. Nauman Vohra, Managing Director of Gentraco Bangladesh Private Limited-a company dealing with Chemicals, Yarns & Fabrics called on the Deputy High Commissioner.
During the meetings the Deputy High Commissioner briefed the businesspersons in Karachi about various development initiatives and sectoral achievements in Bangladesh. He further said that Bangladesh has attained the status of a developing nation. Bangladesh has become a ‘Role Model’ of socio-economic development in the world. He further mentioned that Bangladesh has constructed the Padma Bridge of length 6.15 kms by her own finance, which is a symbol of Bangladesh’s pride and confidence. The Deputy High Commissioner said that the present government of Bangladesh has been striving hard to turn Bangladesh in a developed country by 2041.
The Deputy High Commissioner elaborated on the potential of trade and commerce and investment in Bangladesh. He attached importance to harness the economic potential for promoting trade and investment between the two countries. He further briefed on the exclusive facilities and incentives Bangladesh offers for foreign investment in Bangladesh. He particularly lighted the impressive offers of Bangladesh for foreign investment in the 100 ‘Special Economic Zones’ and invited the potential investors and businesspersons from Pakistan avail the Bangladesh’s offers and enjoy opportunity to further enhance economic cooperation for mutual benefits.
During the meeting the businesspersons of Pakistan highly lauded the socio-economic developments in Bangladesh. They also expressed candidly that Bangladesh is truly a role model for many of the developing countries across the globe. They are encouraged by the impressive success stories of Bangladesh’s socio-economic developments. They commented that the business and investment environment in Bangladesh is much better compared to many other countries. The labor-incentive industry is a perpetual success story of Bangladesh, they commented. They expressed their optimism for wider trade and commerce and investment in Bangladesh. They also said that there are huge potentials for greater trade and investments between the countries. However, they requested for smooth and quicker customs clearance at the ports and earlier visa issuance for the potential and prospective businessmen and investors from Pakistan.
Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam assured the businessmen and investors from Pakistan to extend all possible cooperation for wider trade and commerce and economic relations between the two counties.
