The Government of Bangladesh strongly condemns the attack on the residence of the Head of the Mission of the United Arab Emirates in Khartoum, Sudan on September 29, 2024. This attack is a grave violation of the Vienna Convention of the Diplomatic Relations, 1961 which safeguards the inviolability and protection of diplomatic premises and diplomat’s private residences.
Bangladesh emphasizes on the adherence to the provisions of international humanitarian law and to ensure the safety of civilians and the protection of diplomatic premises. Bangladesh also expresses its full solidarity with the people and the Government of the United Arab Emirates.
Bangladesh calls upon all parties to exercise utmost restraint and reiterate the need for coordinated international and regional efforts to halt the bloodshed in Sudan.
