Bangladesh is an attractive destination for Foreign Direct Investment and South Korea, by industrial investments in Bangladesh, can reap the benefit of attractive investment climate in Bangladesh coupled with is economic advancement, said Foreign Minister Dr. A. K. Abdul Momen while South Korean Ambassador Hu Kang-il paid a courtesy call him at Foreign Minister’s office at Segunbagicha today.
Foreign Minister lauded Korea’s miraculous success in transforming into a developed country within a generation which has inspired Bangladesh in its endeavor to steer the nation towards a higher middle income country by 2021.
Foreign Minister expressed gratitude to Ambassador for Korea’s development assistance for infrastructure developments in Bangladesh, for creating job opportunities for Bangladesh nationals in Korea and supporting development of industries in Bangladesh particularly in garments and textile sector.
Ambassador Hu mentioned that joint venture of South Korea’s leading conglomerate SK group to set up LPG terminal will facilitate generation of power plants amid crisis of availability of natural gas. Ambassador also mentioned that South Korean electronics giant LG, Samsung will soon manufacture electronic goods in Bangladesh which will boost Bangladesh’s economy to a large extent and reduce trade gap between Bangladesh and Korea.
Ambassador expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for its support to the international initiative of denuclearization of Korean Peninsula. Foreign Minister thanked Korean Government for their political and humanitarian support in tackling Rohingya crisis.
