Bangladesh Ambassador meeting with Rector of Termez State University and Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Surkhandaryia Region in Termez

 

Uzbekistan, 26 October, 2023:

 

Bangladesh Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Dr. Mohammad Monirul Islam held a meeting with the Rector of Termez State University, Dr. Avaz Rakhimovich Marakhimovich on 26 October 2023 at the latter’s office. The meeting was attended, among others, Mr. Turaev Rasul, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Mr. Abdullaev Shuhrat, Dean of the Faculty of History, Mr.Alisher Shapulatovich Shaydullaev, Head of the Department of International Cooperation from Termez State University and Ms. Nodira First Secretary, Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Termez. From the Bangladesh side, Mr. Md. Nazmul Alam, Counsellor of the Embassy of Bangladesh in Tashkent accompanied the Ambassador.

 

Highlighting the shared historical ties, cultural proximity and religious affinity that Bangladesh and Uzbekistan share in their bilateral relations, Dr. İslam underlined the need for further deepening and expanding the cooperation between the two countries, especially in the academic, research, innovation and technological fields . In this regard, he placed a great emphasis on the exchange of students, teachers and researchers between the educational institutes of Bangladesh and Uzbekistan. This would eventually help strengthen the understanding and perspective between our two peoples, not only in the academic related areas, but also in each other’s history, society, economy, culture and heritage, the Bangladesh Ambassador added. He stated that both sides could actively explore the possibility of institutionalizing a collaboration between the Termez State University and an appropriate University in Bangladesh. Responding positively to the Ambassador’s call, the Rector Dr. Marakhimovich expressed his readiness to work together in implementing such a collaborative arrangement with Bangladesh. He briefed the Ambassador of the scope, opportunities and strengths of the University, including the facilities and scholarships offered to the foreign students.

 

Both sides shared ideas on the matter of further increasing the connectivity and friendship between the peoples of two brotherly nations, especially among the young generations. They agreed to organize a Bangladesh Day at the University at a mutually convenient time to introduce and project the historical and cultural heritage of Bangladesh.

 

On the same day, a meeting was also held between the Bangladesh Ambassador and the Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Surkhandarya Region, Mr. Xujakulov Abdusalom Pardaev in Termez . Describing the socio-economic progress Bangladesh has attained in its development landscape under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, he urged the Uzbekistan business and investment community to seriously explore the opportunities in Bangladesh. He identified a number of potential sectors for collaboration between the two countries, which include, among others, textile, pharmaceuticals, jute and ceramics. Acknowledging that there is a significant prospects in the expansion of business between Bangladesh and Uzbekistan, the Chairman assured the Ambassador of putting his best efforts in encouraging business elites and industrialists of the Surkhandarya region to intensify meaningful interactions with the Bangladesh counterparts in making substantial contributions to the Bangladesh-Uzbekistan business and investment cooperation.
