On the occasion of the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People, Bangladesh joins the international community in reaffirming its staunch commitment to the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, to national independence and sovereignty, and to return to their homes and property from which they had been displaced over five decades.
The people of Bangladesh have always been steadfast in expressing their solidarity with their Palestinian brethren in their just struggle for self-determination and independent statehood. Owing to our experience of decades long colonial oppression and having been victims of large scale displacement, genocide and crimes against humanity during our War of Liberation in 1971, the principled stance enshrined in our Constitution is to “...support oppressed peoples throughout the world waging a just struggle against imperialism, colonialism, or racialism”.
Bangladesh condemns the violent attacks and human rights violations against the Palestinian people, and denounces the illegal settlements, including the expansion plans, and any other action by the occupying force. Bangladesh welcomes and calls for implementing the UN Security Council Resolution adopted in December 2016 that stated that the establishment of settlements in Palestinian territory occupied since 1967, including East Jerusalem, had no legal validity.
Bangladesh reiterates her position in favour of establishing the State of Palestine on the basis of the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital We believe that implementation of the relevant UN resolutions, the terms of reference of Madrid Conference, the Quartet Road Map, the Arab Peace Plan and the efforts made by a number of Council members is critical for resuming the Middle East Peace Process and achieving a durable solution to the issue of Palestine.
We therefore urge the international community to work in unison to find a just, peaceful and lasting solution to the Palestinian question and translate its solidarity with the Palestinian people into meaningful quest for peace and stability in the Middle East.

May Bangladesh Live Forever.
