Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi hosted on 08 June 2024 at the Chancery premises the “Bangladesh Festivals-2024” to celebrate the Bangla New Year 1431 and the Birth Anniversaries of Poet Rabindranath Tagore and Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Ruhul Alam Siddique and over 150 dignitaries including cultural activists, business leaders, women, children, artists from Nazrul Academy of Pakistan, Academicians from Bangla Department of Karachi University among other were present at the festivals.
The art, culture, music and tradition of Bangladesh were highlighted at the Festivals. Lot of fun sports were arranged for the children, women and the men. Documentary were screened to highlight the rich culture of Bangladesh. All the guests were entertained with the unique taste and delicacies of Bangladesh cuisine. All the dignitaries and guests attended the festivals were presented special gifts and mementos and souvenir on Bangladesh and Bangladesh culture and traditions.
A very colourful cultural evening was also arranged with music of traditional Bangladesh including the songs of Noble Laureate Poet Rabindranath Tagore and the National Poet of Bangladesh Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Deputy High Commissioner S. M. Mahbubul Alam in his welcome speech welcomed all the “Bangladesh Festivals-2024”.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Ruhul Alam Siddique in his remarks mentioned that Bangladesh is a land of cultural heritage of thousand years. The Bengali fairs and festivities, some of them with a recorded history of over two thousand years, have provided recreation and amusement to the people of the “Bengal” Region. He categorically mentioned that the Festivities in Bangladesh fall into three major categories: the Religious festivals representing Islam, Hinduism, Christianity, and Buddhism; the National events such as the Independence Day, Victory Day, and the Language Martyrs Day, and the Secular Cultural Festivals which are extensive in number and include such as Bengali New Year Day (Pohela Boishak), Nobanna, Poush Mela, Bosonta Utsab and so forth. He mentioned that we are proud of our own art, culture, art, music and traditions.
The High Commission emphasized that the Bangladesh Missions are active in celebrating and highlighting the culture and festivities of Bangladesh abroad and to brighten the image of Bangladesh across the world.
All the dignitaries participated at the “Bangladesh Festivals-2024” in Karachi were deeply enjoyed the festivities of Bangladesh and the unique taste and delicacies of Bangladesh cuisine. They also profoundly enjoyed the fun sports arranged for them. They were enlightened knowing the rich art, culture, music, traditions and festivities of Bangladesh.
