Karachi, 31 December 2023:

Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi observed the “National Expatriates’ Day-2023” at the Chancery on 30 December 2023.

The Mission’s officials, the Bangladeshi expatriates living in Pakistan participated in the event. On the occasion of National Expatriates’ Day 2023, the Deputy High Commission also arranged a weeklong “Consular and Welafre Services Week” during 26-31 December 2023 to mark the significance of the Day.

The programme commenced with reading out of the messages of Hon’ble President, Hon’ble Prime Minister, Hon’ble Foreign Minister and Hon’ble Minister of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment and displaying the video documentary sent by the Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment. Audio-Visual documentary was played at the occasion to highlight various initiatives undertaken by the Government of Bangladesh and the role of the Deputy High Commission for the welfare of the Bangladeshi expatriates in this regard.

Different aspects of consular services were discussed. The consular service seekers also expressed their views regarding consular services of the Mission. The sending of remittances to Bangladesh through legal channels was also discussed and attached emphasis in the meeting. The modes and importance of sending remittances in legal channels were explained.

Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam, in his remark, warmly congratulated all the Bangladeshi expatriates living in Pakistan. He acknowledged the significant contributions of over 15 million Bangladeshi expatriates living over 180 countries including those living in Pakistan. He highlighted also various development projects in Bangladesh and positive initiatives of the Government in the field of migration and overseas employment and for the welfare of Bangladeshi expatriates. He elaborated that due to farsighted and dynamic leadership and pro-active policies, Bangladesh have been exporting hundred of thousands of manpower to overseas every year.

Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam emphasized that rendering smooth, fast and quality consular services is a priority task of the Mission. He emphasized on the transparent, dynamic, quality, and service-friendly consular section in the Mission. Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi has been working hard for the image building of Bangladesh through public diplomacy vis-à-vis rendering quality consular services with honesty, dignity, and utmost professionalism. The service-seekers expressed their sincere satisfaction on the quality of services by the Bangladesh Mission in Karachi. In observance of the National Expatriates’ Day-2023, the Mission reassured the service seekers for better and quality services to them.
