World Autism Awareness Day-2023: A Discussion Meeting arranged by Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi

Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Karachi arranges a discussion meeting on 02 April 2023 on the occasion of World Autism Awareness Day-2023 at the Conference Hall of the Chancery with the theme of the day: “Transformation: Toward a Neuro-Inclusive World for All”. Mr. Md. Arif Elahee, First Secretary at the Mission presented a key note during the discussion.

 

Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh in Karachi S. M. Mahbubul Alam mentioned that the persons with autism often face social and environmental barriers to the full exercise of their rights and fundamental freedoms. He emphasized on the rights of persons with autism to ensure as inscribed the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. He added that Bangladesh has been working with due importance and priority to ensure the rights of persons with autism. The Government of Bangladesh has taken up various initiatives nation-wide and policies for the betterment of the persons with specialized needs.

 

Deputy High Commissioner said that the World Autism Awareness Day, is also a day to celebrate the contributions of persons with autism and to renew the resolve to advance their inherent rights. This is important to fully recognize the active and diverse contributions of persons with autism in the societies – and to work together with persons with autism to build an inclusive and accessible world for all. He mentioned that initiatives such as promoting inclusive education, equal employment opportunities, self-determination, and an environment where every person is respected are crucial for the better lives of the persons with Autism. The societal mind-set regarding autism and persons with special needs also requires to change. It is also important that all concerned come forward for the welfare of the persons with special needs. It’s vital to build-up awareness and to highlight the needs to help improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from the disorder. Deputy High Commissioner assured that any person with specialized needs will receive top-priority services from Bangladesh Mission in Karachi.
