ভাইরাস জীবন্ত প্রাণী নয়। এটি প্রোটিনের অণু (ডিএনএ) যা লিপিডের (চর্বি) মোড়কে মোড়ানো।এটা আমাদের নাক-চোখ-মুখের মাধ্যমে শরীরে ঢুকে গেলে নিজের জেনেটিক কোড বদলে ফেলে শক্তিশালী ও আত্রমণাত্মক হয়ে ওঠে। ভাইরাস যেহেতু কেবলই একটি প্রোটিন অণু এবং জীবন্ত নয় তাই এটাকে মেরেও ফেলা যায় না। তবে সে নিজে থেকে ধ্বংস হতে পারে। এটা কতক্ষণে ধ্বংস বা ক্ষয় হবে তা নির্ভর করে এর থাকার স্থানটির তাপমাত্রা, আর্দ্রতা ও স্থানটি কী উপাদানে তৈরি, তার উপরে। করোনা ভাইরাস ভঙ্গুর কারণ সুরক্ষার জন্য তা কেবল একটি চর্বির স্তর দিয়ে মোড়ানো। এ কারণেই সাবান ও ডিটারজেন্ট ভাইরাসটি থেকে মুক্ত হবার সহজ উপায়। সাবান ও ডিটারজেন্ট মূলত যে কোনো স্থানের তেল বা চর্বি সরাতে পারে। তেল বা চর্বি সরানোর উদ্দেশ্যে আমাদের অন্তত টানা ২০ সেকেন্ড ধরে সাবান বা ডিটারজেন্ট ব্যবহার করতে হয় যাতে করে প্রচুর ফেনা তৈরি হতে পারে। এর ফলে ভাইরাসের উপরের চর্বির স্তর ভেঙে গিয়ে পুরোপুরি অকার্যকর হয়ে যায়। গরম তাপমাত্রা চর্বি গলাতে কার্যকর। এজন্যে হাত বা কাপড় ধোয়ার ক্ষেত্রে অন্তত ২৫ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস তাপমাত্রার পানি ব্যবহার করা উচিত। এ ছাড়া, সাবান ব্যবহারের ক্ষেত্রে গরম পানি ঠান্ডা পানির চেয়ে বেশি ফেনা তৈরি করতে পারে বলে ভাইরাসটিকে আরো দ্রæত অকার্যকর করতে পারে। অ্যালকোহল কিংবা অন্তত ৬৫% অ্যালকোহলের মিশ্রণ যে কোনো ধরনের তেল অথবা চর্বি ভাঙার জন্য উপযুক্ত। ভাইরাসের শরীরের বাইরের চর্বির স্তর ভাঙতে অ্যালকোহলের মিশ্রণ অত্যন্ত কার্যকর একটি উপায়। এক ভাগ ব্লিচ ও পাঁচ ভাগ পানির মিশ্রণ সরাসরি প্রয়োগে প্রোটিন ভেঙে যায়। তাই এই মিশ্রণ ভাইরাসটিকে ভিতর পর্যন্ত গলিয়ে ধ্বংস করতে পারে। সাবান, অ্যালকোহল এবং ক্লোরিন যদি অক্সিজেন চালনা করা পানির (অক্সিজেনেটেড ওয়াটার) সঙ্গে ব্যবহার করা হয় তবে তা অপেক্ষকৃত দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে ভাইরাসের কার্যক্ষমতা ঠেকাতে সাহায্য করে। এর কারণ অক্সিজেন চালনা করা পানিতে থাকা পারঅক্সাইড ভাইরাসের প্রোটিনকে গলিয়ে ফেলতে পারে। এটি বিশুদ্ধ হলে ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে তবে ত্বকের জন্য সুবিধাজনক নয়। ব্যাকটেরিয়া ধ্বংসে যা ব্যবহার করা হয় তা দিয়ে ভাইরাস থেকে মুক্ত হওয়া সম্ভব না। ভাইরাস ব্যাকটেরিয়ার মতো জীবন্ত প্রাণী নয়। যা জীবন্ত নয় তাকে অ্যান্টিবায়োটিক ব্যবহার করে হত্যা করার প্রশ্ন নেই। তবে আগে যা যা উপায় বলা হলো সেসব অনুসরণ করে ভাইরাসকে ভেঙে ধ্বংস করা সম্ভব। ব্যবহৃত বা অব্যবহৃত পোশাক, কাপড় বা চাদর ঝাড়া দেয়া যাবে না। কাপড় ঝাড়লে তা থেকে নিসৃত ভাইরাস কোথাও পড়লে সেখানেই আটকে থাকে। কাপড় বা সমধর্মী জিনিসে ৩ ঘণ্টা, তামা বা কাঠে ৪ ঘণ্টা (যেহেতু তামা নিজেই জীবাণু ধ্বংস করতে পারে এবং কাঠ ক্রমাগত আর্দ্রতা হারাতে থাকে), হার্ডবোর্ডের উপরে ২৪ ঘণ্টা, ধাতব জিনিসে ৪২ ঘণ্টা এবং প্লাস্টিকে ৭২ ঘণ্টা পর্যন্ত ভাইরাসটি টিকে থাকতে পারে। ভাইরাস আছে এমন কিছুকে ঝাড়া দিলে বা তার উপরে পালকের ডাস্টার ব্যবহার করলে ভাইরাসের অণুগুলো বাতাসে তিন ঘণ্টা পর্যন্ত ভাসতে পারে এবং মানুষের নাকে ঢুকে যেতে পারে। ভাইরাস অণুগুলো ঠান্ডা আবহাওয়ায়, এমনকি শীতাতপ নিয়ন্ত্রিত বাড়ি বা গাড়িতে অত্যন্ত ভালোভাবে টিকে থাকতে পারে। বেশি কার্যকর থাকার জন্য ভাইরাসটির আর্দ্রতা এবং অন্ধকারের উপস্থিতির প্রয়োজন পড়ে। এ কারণে একদিকে শুকনো বা কম আর্দ্রতাবিশিষ্ট আবহাওয়া, অন্যদিকে, গরম এবং উজ্জ্বল পরিবেশে ভাইরাসটি দ্রæত ধ্বংস হয়। ইউভি লাইট ভাইরাসটিকে তার প্রোটিন ভেঙে যে কোনো কিছুর উপর থেকে ধ্বংস করতে পারে। এভাবে একটি মাস্ককে ব্যবহারের পর ভাইরাসমুক্ত করে আবারো ব্যবহার করা যেতে পারে। কিন্তু ইউভি লাইট যেহেতু ত্বকের কোলাজেন ভেঙে দেয় তাই মুখে বলিরেখা থেকে শুরু করে ত্বকের ক্যানসার পর্যন্ত হতে পারে। ভাইরাসটি সুস্থ এবং স্বাভাবিক ত্বকের ভিতরে সরাসরি প্রবেশ করতে পারে না। করোনা ভাইরাস থেকে মুক্ত হতে ভিনেগার কার্যকর নয় কারণ ভিনেগার প্রোটিন ধ্বংস করতে পারে না। স্প্রিট বা ভদকা ভাইরাসটি ধ্বংস করতে করতে কার্যকর নয়। ভদকায় অ্যালকোহলের সর্বোচ্চ মাত্রা হতে পারে ৪০% কিন্তু ভাইরাসটি ধ্বংস হতে কমপক্ষে ৬৫% অ্যালকোহল দরকার। করোনা ভাইরাসকে ধ্বংস করে, অ্যালকোহলসমৃদ্ধ এমন কিছুর কথা ভাবলে একমাত্র বলা যেতে পারে কোনো কোনো লিসটারিনের (মাউথ ওয়াশ) কথা যাতে ৬৫% অ্যালকোহল থাকে। তবে বেশিরভাগ লিসটারিনে থাকে ২০% থেকে ৩০% অ্যালকোহল যা ভাইরাসটি ধ্বংসে কার্যকর নয়। বদ্ধ স্থানে ভাইরাসটির প্রকোপ বেশি হবে। উলটোদিকে উন্মুক্ত এবং বাতাস চলাচল করে এমন স্থানে ভাইরাসের উপস্থিতি কম হবে। এটা অবশ্য অনেকবার বলা হয়েছে, তবু আরেকবার বললে ক্ষতি নেই যে, নাক, খাবার, দরজার লক, যে কোনো সুইচ, রিমোট কন্ট্রোলার, সেল ফোন, ঘড়ি, কম্পিউটার, টেবিল ও টেলিভিশন জাতীয় জিনিস ধরার আগে ও পরে হাত ধোয়া জরুরি। ওয়াশরুম ব্যবহার করলে হাত তো ধুতে হবেই। বারে বারে ধোয়া হাত ভালোমতো শুকাতেও হবে। কারণ ত্বকের যে কোনো ফাটলে ভাইরাস লুকিয়ে থাকতে পারে। ত্বক আর্দ্রতাকারী লোশন বা ক্রিম যত ভারি ও তৈলাক্ত হয় তত ভালো। হাতের নখ ছোটো করে কেটে রাখা উচিত যেন তাতে ভাইরাস ঢুকে থাকতে না পারে।সবাই সুস্থ থাকুন, ভাল থাকুন।

Jacob Glanville, one of the members of the Netflix documentary Pandemic, and his team are working to find an antibody therapy. On Monday, he made a tweet saying the antidote was imminent.

2. A warm and humid weather is linked to slower spread of the novel coronavirus, according to a study which suggests that Asian countries experiencing monsoon may experience lesser transmission of the virus. The scientists, including Qasim Bukhari from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, assessed data on the number of COVID-19 infections in different parts of the world and compared it with two parameters of weather from all the regions -- temperature and humidity.
The findings, described in SSRN repository, show that 90 per cent of the novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, transmissions until March 22, 2020 have occurred in regions with temperature between 3 and 17 degrees Celsius. They added that these regions also had between 4 to 9 gram per cubic metre (g/m3) of absolute humidity -- a measure of the amount of water vapour per cubic metre of atmosphere.
They said the overall growth rate is lower in many parts of Asia, Middle eastern, and South American countries even though the countries in these regions have not implemented drastic quarantine measures such as those in China, Europe and some US states.
Local Pharmaceutical Companies produce to shock of anti-COVID-19 MedicinesBeacon Pharmaceuticals have produced a drug called Favipiravir -- an anti-flu and viral infection medication -- said to be effective in the treatment of coronavirus patients in China. Beacon Pharma handed over 4000 tablets -- free of cost, according to Karim -- to DGDA for medical trial on coronavirus patients. Beacon, as well as Beximco and five other pharmaceutical companies, are currently working towards making the medicine.
Local pharmaceuticals producing anti-flu drug that holds hope of Covid-19 cure
Incepta Pharmaceuticals has stopped exporting Hydroxychloroquine under the brand name 'Reconil' to meet its possible demand to fight COVID-19 here. It has also scaled up production of the medicine that has shown promise, in some cases, in treating the coronavirus disease, COVID-19, said a press statement. Many countries are willing to import Reconil from Incepta, but the local drug-maker is not currently exporting it considering possible domestic demand.

Gonoshasthaya Kendra (GK) will formally handover its Covid-19 testing kit which can detect coronavirus infection in 15 minutes and is expected to cost around Tk300-350 each, GR Covid-19 Dot Blot, to government authorities on April 11 (Saturday). the kit will be provided to international public health organizations, such as the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), for testing and feedback.
